action-packed intense competition in an intimate area showcasing the best athletes in the world. Athletics is the third-largest and most viewed sport after the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup. This is the first international IAAF Indoor Competition to be hosted in the Middle East. The challenge was to create a brand that would uphold and reflect the values of the IAAF World Athletic series and the Qatar Olympic Committee while also promoting Qatar as the sporting hub of the region. The goal of the event and brand was to attract global viewership and national participation by attracting the interest of the people. The brand needed to fuse traditional heritage with the love of Athletics and to build a lasting relationship and impression between the athletes and the local community. The solution was developed in accordance with the IAAF guidelines and templates provided for the brand mark. Freedom in creativity was expressed through the dynamic visual language that carried the audience and placed them in the closest proximity with the athlete. A brand language that articulated the dynamic action of the sport while also bringing forth the country’s energy, warmth and essence.
